The notice says the photo is captured live — you do not upload one.
Official requirements
The numbers below come from the official notice. Each source is quoted as we read it.
-
Photo (live capture)
Taken live on the portalNo file is uploaded by the candidate in either exam: the application module captures the candidate's photograph while the form is being filled in (Para 9.4 of each notice). Neither notice states a file format, KB size or pixel/cm dimensions for the photograph.
-
Signature
JPG6 × 2 cm at 300 dpi10–20 KBScanned signature as JPEG/JPG, 10 to 20 KB, about 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height) (Para 9.6 of each notice). The portal's own upload screen, reproduced in Annexure-IVA of each notice, repeats these figures and adds 'at a resolution of 300 DPI'. Annexure-IV of each notice says about 4.0 x 2.0 cm instead (see the other readings below); the CGL Annexure-IV text adds that PwD(VH) candidates may also use a thumb impression. No pixel dimensions are stated. The portal screen also says that an application with a blurred or miniature signature will be rejected and that the signature should be horizontally aligned.
The notice also says:
- SSC CGL 2026 notice: Annexure-IV (p. 71) states a different signature size (4.0 x 2.0 cm); Para 9.6, Para 23 and the portal upload screen state 6.0 x 2.0 cm. Annexure-IV step 24 (p. 73) points back to this text ('Upload your signature as specified at S.No.-1b above'). The scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format (10 to 20 KB). The image dimension of signature should be about 4.0 cm (Width) x 2.0 cm (Height). The applications with blurred signature will be rejected summarily. For the PwD(VH) candidates, the thumb impression is also allowed.
- SSC CHSL 2026 notice: Annexure-IV (p. 53) states a different signature size (4.0 x 2.0 cm); Para 9.6, Para 24 and the portal upload screen state 6.0 x 2.0 cm. Annexure-IV step 19 (p. 55) points back to this text ('Upload your signature as specified at S.No.-1b above'). Scanned signature in JPEG format (10 to 20 KB). Image dimension of the signature should be about 4.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height). Applications with illegible/ blurred signature will be rejected.
We show these readings but check your file against the numbers in the cards above.

What we check — and what we don't
-
File type. The file you download is a JPG.
-
Pixels. The width and height in pixels, when the notice states them. We scale the picture, and crop it when the notice sets both sides, and never stretch it.
-
Centimetres. This notice gives some sizes in cm. We turn them into pixels at the dpi it states and allow ±2% for rounding.
-
File size. The size in KB, kept inside the notice's limits however a KB is counted.
We do not check what the picture shows, such as the background, the face position, the date of a photo or whose signature it is. A portal may check these too, and only the portal can accept or reject your upload. We are not affiliated with Staff Selection Commission: always confirm the numbers on the official notice.
How to fix your file
- Choose or drop your JPG, PNG or WebP file (up to 25 MB). It is read on your device.
- Press Fix my file. We scale, crop and compress it until it fits the official numbers above.
- Download the fixed copy and upload it on the official application portal.
